Everyone deserves to feel confident in their skin, and it’s not a luxury. It’s your right. Here at Ageless Belle®, if we can help make it easier for you on your journey towards being confident in your skin, we will have done our job well!
Daily we are constantly presented with images of perfect faces with perfect skin. Not a single flaw, blemish, line or dark circle. But that’s not realistic. We all have different skin textures, tones, colours and types, which makes us unique and beautiful.
It’s normal to have low self-esteem if you have acne or other blemishes that make you self-conscious. However, there are a couple of ways you can improve your skin confidence and learn how to love yourself as much as possible!
What is skin confidence?
Skin confidence is your ability to feel good about yourself, regardless of how your skin looks.
It is about having realistic expectations and knowing how to accept and love your skin the way it is. It’s not easy, but it’s attainable. We have natural skin care products that are excellent to help these conditions and boost your confidence.
Now let’s look at the steps you need to take to achieve this.
Steps to develop skin confidence
1. Know your skin type
A good skincare routine starts with one knowing their skin type. This is a significant step. Ever wondered what your skin type is? Not anymore. We have you covered. We have two at-home ways to know your skin type.
Cleanse and Wait aka Bare-faced Method
This test allows you to understand what kind of skin you have by observing how your skin behaves after cleansing it.
Start by washing your face with a gentle cleanser using lukewarm water, then gently pat it dry. Leave skin bare, i.e. without applying any products. Next, look at your face after 30 minutes. Examine your cheeks, chin, nose and forehead for any shine.
- You have dry skin if your skin feels tight and flaky and scaly when you smile or make facial expressions.
- If you have a shine on your nose and forehead, the T-Zone area, your skin is most likely to be a combination type.
- You likely have oily skin if your face is shining all over.
- If your skin looks hydrated with no visible blemishes and is not oily, your skin is likely to be normal.
- Sensitive skin is easily irritated by products and the environment.
The Blotting Sheet Method
The method is much faster and often an excellent differentiator between oily and dry skin types.
After the first step above (cleansing), pat a blotting paper on your face, then hold the paper up to the light to see visible oil.
- You likely have a dry skin type if the sheet has no oil.
- However, if the sheet of paper shows some oil from the T-zones (forehead and nose areas), your skin is likely to be a combination skin type.
- If the blotting sheet is filled with oil, you likely have an oily skin type.
Now that you know your skin type, smile! This will help you decide what skincare products are right for you, improving your skin health and thus boosting your skin confidence!
2. Skincare routine
A good skincare routine can do wonders for your skin. However, for your products to be most effective, you must apply them correctly.
The rule of thumb is to apply in order of texture, from thinnest to thickest, since light products will not be able to penetrate thicker ones.
We want to take you through a 5 step skincare routine below. We recommend some products for each step. Please click on the product name to follow the link.
Wash your face:
Start by rinsing your face with lukewarm water and rub a small amount of gentle cleanser between clean palms. Next, massage it all over your face using gentle pressure. Next, rinse your face with lukewarm water and gently pat dry with a soft towel.

Apply toner:
Put two sprays of toner (Choose toner according to your skin type) into the palm of your hand and gently pat it onto your face.

Apply serum:
Apply the face serum after using the face toner and before Face Elixir(Face oil) as your third step. Use morning and night (AM/PM).

Apply Face Elixir(face oil):
We suggest you use our Face Elixirs (according to your skin type) as a substitute for your moisturizer. Use a small amount on cleansed skin to cover the face and neck to provide hydration and seal moisture while your face is still moist after face serum application. You do not need a moisturizer after this application on your morning routine. Your next step will be the sunscreen lotion.

Apply the sunscreen lotion:
This makes the last step in your morning routine. If you wear your makeup, do not worry, this creates a perfect base for your application. Otherwise, your skin is good to go.
According to dermatologists, sun protection is essential to any skincare routine. Therefore, we recommend a broad-spectrum, which protects from UVA and UVB radiation, SPF 50+.

3. Eat healthy foods and exercise regularly.
This is one thing we’ve all heard before! Our skin reflects what goes inside our bodies. What we eat and spending too much time indoors without exercise.
If you want to ensure that everything else in your life is healthy, this should be no exception! On top of that, do not forget to hydrate, hydrate and hydrate some more! Have your water bottle with you all the time.
A certain appealing glow radiates from someone healthy from the inside out. So we recommend changes towards healthier habits that will show changes in your skin, thus boosting your confidence over time.
4. Get enough sleep every night
Ever heard of “Beauty sleep?” This is a real deal. Your skin heals itself from the day’s damage during sleep. Getting about 8 hours of sleep every night makes you feel fresh, rejuvenated, and more confident with your skin.
5. Surround yourself with positive people
Unfortunately, society has not helped either. There is no positivity around us. It always reminds us that we are inadequate. It’s either our body is not quite right, our skin is not as good, and the notion that we need many beauty products to look presentable. None of these things is true! Surround yourself with positive people and messages about your skin. Follow skin-positive people/pages online and choose magazines that show images of people you can relate to.
6. Try to take social media detox
Social media can affect your skin confidence significantly. Some of us constantly compare our skin to thousands of influencers, celebrities, or strangers on Facebook, Instagram, Tic Tok, etc., displaying flawless skin due to editing, layers of makeup, and even airbrushing images. Don’t do this! Remember that everyone has different skin. Most of all, what you see is not accurate (genuine). Please give social media a break every once in a while and remind yourself that your skin is healthy, natural, and perfect just the way it is.!
7. Patience is the word!
Our skin concerns, be it acne, uneven skin tone etc., do not resolve in a day. The skin routine requires commitment and dedication. Skincare products are not potions that work instantly. Instead, they take time to show visible results due to your skin cells’ regeneration rate, approximately every 28 days and above, depending on individual skin. The other
factor is the quality of the skincare products you use. You need to invest in good-quality products that show efficacy.
Be patient and do not stress yourself, which can make your skin worse, thus affecting your confidence.
Conclusion
Remember, it’s okay to feel down and have days when you’re not as confident as you want. Everyone struggles with their insecurities, and you’ll get past this feeling. Things will get better. Try the steps, and always remember that no one has perfect skin!
